Helen (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Jackson (Johnathon Schaech) are having a baby. But when crime in New York City gets a little too close for comfort, the newlyweds decide to move to a Thoroughbred ranch owned by Jackson's family. As Jackson's domineering and obsessive mother, Martha (Jessica Lange), resolves to get rid of Helen, it makes the crime of the big city look like a picnic.
